March of Dimes - Tsakopolous Library Galleria 10-17-13

We attended the March of Dimes Celebrity Chef Auction at the Tsakopolous Library Galleria downtown on October 17th 2013.  It was a very successful event in which local Chefs and wineries raised over $150,000 for the charity.  Each Chef offered up a prize package for the auction - The High Steaks package was: For 8 Guests: Golfing at Whitney Oaks, Dinner at High Steaks, and a Balvenie Scotch tasting.  Chef Juan- the assistant Pastry Chef at the Casino and myself, Nikki Rios worked the event together.

This is a Chocolate Peanut Butter Surprise - it was beautiful and delicious.  Many guests thought that it was a display dessert until we offered them one.

I made a Braised Kurobuta Pork Belly that was served on a crispy Risotto cake with a Balsamic reduction and Micro Greens.  Kurobuta is the Kobe Pig - a Berkshire Hog bred for flavor.

Here is a picture of Chef Juan and myself with Celebrity Chef Taro from Mikuni- he is a great Chef and an incredibly fun and friendly guy.

This is just one of Chef Juan's amazing cakes.  You can order cakes just like this for any special occasion that you have.  The Pastry counter at the Cafe is the place to go!  Chef Juan is an expert cake designer and has made many incredible cakes that look too good to eat.

Another one of Chef Juan's desserts pictured here - a Strawberry Charlotte.

Our Braised Pork Belly on the Risotto cakes... it was very tender and juicy - and 100% fat free... just kidding.

One of Chef Juan's Harvest style Wedding Cakes... amazing!
